Why I Started This Business

Hi, I'm Cathy, the heart behind Cathy G's Senior Care.

With over 20 years of hands-on experience in home care in the Bancroft area, I've had the privilege of supporting many families as they go through the challenges and joys of caring for aging loved ones. I provide compassionate in-home support — from daily companionship and errands to specialized help with dementia, medication management, and important transitions like moving to a retirement residence.

Not Receiving the Care Needed

In all my years in the home care field, I felt that people weren't getting the service they needed and deserved. So many seniors needed care, but the budgets couldn't keep up. Care workers were running in circles, and many of them became burned out themselves. It broke my heart that some seniors who really needed it had their hours shortened.

You Are Not Alone

A while ago, I cared for a lovely senior who would often say, with frustration, "No one listens to me." Those words stayed with me and became the foundation of how I work:

Stop. Breathe. Listen.

This senior had some memory trouble, and her family would often tell her what to do without asking what she wanted. When I started caring for her, I simply sat and listened to what she had to say. After a while, she began to act like herself again. She realized someone was in her corner, and she didn't have to face it alone.

I believe every senior deserves to feel heard, respected, and safe — and every family deserves practical support and guidance without judgment. That's why I take the time to truly understand your situation and offer care that fits your unique needs.

Children of Aging Parents

Adult children of aging parents are sometimes in a difficult situation. They live out of town and worry about how their parents are managing. Are they taking their medications properly? Are they eating well? Are they safe? Many have tried the usual routes to get help without success. I feel humbled to be able to step in and support these families.

I'm continually learning to serve you better. I'm currently taking courses through Alison and McGill University to deepen my knowledge in caregiving and dementia support — there's so much new to learn since I took my original course over 20 years ago.

Looking for Someone to Help?

Whether you need regular help at home or just someone to talk through the next steps, I'm here for you. It would be my privilege to be of service to you and your family. You don't have to figure this out alone.

So if you're ready and looking for help, my doors are open and I'm currently receiving new clients. I hope to hear from you soon.

With much love,
Cathy
